Jewellery Care Guide for Silver & Gold Plated Jewellery

DESIGNER JEWELLERY CARE GUIDE & WARRANTY

Find out about the best ways to care for your JaBelle jewellery in sterling silver, gold vermeil and rose gold vermeil.

Each piece of JaBelle Jewellery has been crafted to the highest quality in sterling silver with the option of 18ct gold vermeil or 18ct rose gold vermeil. Our jewellery is nickel-free and perfect for everyday wear!

All of our jewellery is designed to be enjoyed everyday.

When you are not wearing your JaBelle jewellery, we recommend all sterling silver, gold vermeil and rose gold vermeil jewellery should be kept in a dark and dry place, ideally the jewellery box or pouch. If you no longer have your original box, keeping it in a jewellery box or jewellery pouch works just as well. Giving your jewellery a quick polish after wearing it to ensure any chemicals and moisture are removed will ensure your jewellery stays in good condition.

Precious metals can be affected by chemicals such as perfumes, body lotions and sun creams. Putting on your jewellery once you have finished dressing will minimise the effects of these chemicals.

How can I take care of my sterling silver jewellery?

When you are not wearing your silver necklace, store it in a cool and dry place.

Each of our sterling silver pieces is plated with rhodium. Rhodium is a member of the platinum metal group, so it's scratch resistant and does not tarnish. Rhodium-plated sterling silver is the best kind of silver jewellery to buy as it has longevity, does not tarnish and it's perfect for everyday wear.

How do I clean my silver jewellery?

If your silver jewellery has come into contact with chemicals from everyday products or it's starting to look a little lackluster, simply polishing your silver jewellery with a silver polishing cloth will restore your piece back to its original state. We recommend polishing your silver jewellery every month if it has been worn regularly.

What is gold vermeil?

Gold vermeil jewellery is a much higher quality than regular plated jewellery. Plated jewellery often features a thin layer of gold on top of cheap mixed metals that may discolour or cause allergies.

Gold vermeil jewellery has a solid sterling silver base and a much thicker coating of gold. To ensure the best quality we use a 2.5 microns plating.

How do I take care of gold vermeil jewellery?

By taking good care of your gold vermeil jewellery, it will preserve the longevity of each piece. Store your rose gold and gold vermeil jewellery out of direct sunlight and in a cool dry place. Soapy water can give your gold a dull sheen so remember to remove your gold pieces before bathing. Chemicals such as perfumes, lotions or cleaning products can affect vermeil jewellery greatly so it's always best to apply your products before putting on your jewellery. We recommend regularly giving your jewellery a gentle polish and ensure any chemicals or moisture on the jewellery have been removed before storing.

How do I clean gold vermeil jewellery?

To brighten up your jewellery, gently polish it with a microfibre polishing cloth that comes with JaBelle packageing.
